Glass Types
Below is a list of different glass types we stock, which are available to use in almost all of our glass products. Although not normally stocked, we are able to obtain any type of glass should you require it, for further information please Contact Us.
Low-Iron
Low-Iron is our preferred type of glass, it has properties suited to decorative glass. It is very clear, so colours are un-effected by the usual green tint of glass, and machined edges look transparent and modern.
Low Iron glass is available in thicknesses between 2mm and 19mm.
Clear/Float
Clear glass, or float as it is also commonly known, has a strong green tint to it, which becomes more apparent in thicker glass. This makes it unsuitable for glass intended to be coloured, but provides a cheaper alternative when designing glass products such as shelving, balustrades, stair cases and shower doors, so long as there are no low-iron glass pieces present in the room, as the difference is obvious.
Clear/Float glass is available in thicknesses between 2mm and 19mm.
Mirror
Mirrored glass comes in many different colours aside from the traditional silvered, giving you more choice when designing with the use of mirrors. Double sided Mirror is also available.
Mirrored glass is available in thicknesses between 3mm and 6mm.
Laminate
Laminated Glass is essentially two or more pieces of glass, bonded together with a clear plastic interlayer. This gives it substantial safety properties as, when smashed, it holds together as opposed to shattering and separating.
Shatter-Lam
Shatter-lam is a bespoke product consisting of three layer of glass, with the centre layer shattered. This gives the product a truly unique look. Shatter-Lam is available in many different thicknesses as it is the combinations of different sheets of glass.
Satinised / Frosted
Satinised or Frosted glass as it is also known, has had an acid or sandblasted treatment to one its surfaces to make the glass Translucent. This type of glass is very commonly used in doors and walls because of its privacy aspect.
Tinted
Tinted glass is available in Bronze, green, blue or grey and is available in 6mm, 8mm and 10mm thicknesses.
